Egypt Foods 20 Keys Lean Project

 

20th December 2016 … The Launching Day

 

 

After 2 months of preparations and Symbios/ Egypt Foods meetings, it was decided to launch the LEAN project at the

plant in Quesna , Menofia where the 6 plants exist in the Industrial Area. The Chairman, CEO and members of the

Management team as well as heads of teams for each plant gathered in the Admin Building to kick off the LEAN Journey

Japanese 20Keys system. The Chairman; Mr. Mohamed Bar expressed his confidence in the participating audience

exerting all efforts implementing world class LEAN 20 keys system and grasping its importance in realizing further success

of the Group. The CEO; Mr. Khaled Shokry gave a brief about the LEAN journey using 20 keys for the attendees

Targets of the Launching ceremony as communicated by the CEO and other management members were :

“ Efficiency/Productivity is no longer a luxury or good to have, it has become a MUST.LEAN is not an exercise it’s a change of a mindset” Mr. Khaled Shorky, Chief Executive Officer

  1. Understand the Importance of LEAN and how it helps in Setting Key Performance Indicators,
  2. How to align and cascade objects from the TOP MGMT Level through out Department Heads and finally the individual level,
  3. How to integrate and break working in silos in order to reach an integrated bigger team of all departments,
  4. How to Produce Smarter and with the LEAST WASTE,

 

 In 2017, Our Focus is on Increasing Productivity not production, work smarter not harder, achieve highest quality and least cost.

 Increase People capability along the way,

 “ Our objective is achieving optimum use of all resources available, highest quality and least cost with strong involvement of the HR team to increase People Capability ; screen all our resources and set ad-equate development plans” . Mr. Eslam Fekry, Head of Industrial Development Department.

 

Eng. Shereen Mosalla" width="249" height="140" />ger had an interactive session explaining difference between Production and Productivity, Stages of the LEAN 20 Keys Journey in Egypt Foods and what to expect during this journey.

 

LEAN productivity considers increasing the outcome while decreasing the no of hours consumed by employees, reallocation of the employees( as re-sources) to other production lines resulting in maximizing value of all production elements.

LEAN thinks that employees/workers are the main enabler , they are famil-iar with production details, needs of customer and even some are responsi-ble for any WASTE.

Eng. Shereen along with Dr. Eman reaffirmed steps of the journey as follows:

As the journey is still in its early stages , we believe that our people are pas-sionate to realize success and growth of Egypt foods.

Highlights of the 20KEY LEAN Project run by Symbios in Egypt Foods

 Duration is 4 years, with the Chairman and Managing Director and Dr. Eman as the Sponsors. Process Team lead by Eng. Islam is the Champion.

 Will start with keys 1,2,3 of the 20 keys which tackles enhancing working environment, unifying objec-tives, and Ideas.

 20Keys in LEAN tackles 7 areas : Quality, Productivity, Cost, Delivery, Morale, Technology

 Start will be with the potato chips plant. Regular monthly reviews and review every 6 month by Symbios ODI Team from South Africa.

Since the launching ceremony, an extensive series of training were conducted by Symbios Consultants Eng. Niveen Demerdash and Eng. Ammar in addition to a number of reviews. Early Improvements are realized forthwith implementation in each key in a mini business unit. 

 

Lean is celebrating people ideas and initiatives and Egypt Foods has been an example of commitment by Management, Project Leaders, Key Champions and staff.
